Javid Qureshi pays tribute to Shama Prasad Mukherji on his death anniversary

Handwara, June 23

The first person who stood for Ek Vidhan Ek Pradhan Ek Samidhan was none other than Shama Prasad Mukherji. He passed these remarks on Shama Prasad Mukherji's death anniversary in a public gathering at Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

In a statement Javid said that Prasad was incarcerated in Nishat area in Srinagar by Congress party while on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He died at the age of 51 while being incarcerated in Nishat jail.

"Prasad was the first person who stood against article 370 and 35A and the sitting Prime Minister Narinder Modi fulfilled his wish by abrogating JK's special status," Javid added.

He said that Shama Prasad's mother had demanded a thorough investigation into his death and the then Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru did nothing in this regard. Javid said that his death is still a mystery which needed to be unraveled.
