Senior Army Officers Visited Flood Affected Area Of Lolab Valley

Kupwara, July 24 :  In the wake of devastating flash floods triggered by torrential rains in various villages of Lolab, Kupwara, the Indian Army at Gujjarpati Garrison, Lolab, has sprung into action to provide critical assistance to the affected population. 


The Indian army has contacted the locals to ensure their safety. The important contact numbers of the Company Commanders and other appointments have been shared with the SDM office, the DSP office, other  local administrations and villagers. So far no substantial loss of property or life have been reported apart from the slide of a small portion of road along Shatnar which has been adequately covered by the Indian Army and local administration.


On 24 July 2023, The Commander, Charkut Garrison and Commanding Officer, Gujjarpati Garrison carried out a detailed recce the affected areas in entire Lolab Valley. During the recce, the Commander & CO met all the sarpanchs and PRIs & sought well being of the populace. The Army officials also assured the PRUs of all possible help & assistance in case of any eventuality. The Army has also ensured the safe movement of locals in the areas of Urni Nar, Shrant Nar, and Manchar Nar, which have been impacted by the sudden rise of water level.


As the situation remains precarious, the Indian Army continues to work in close collaboration with the civil administration and local authorities to ensure a coordinated and efficient response to the ongoing crisis.
