 FINALE OF UNITY CUP CONCLUDES TODAY AT HAFRADA VILLGAM. AADIL AKBAR VILGAAM HANDWARA    On the occasion of Unity Day, Vilgam Battalion on 31 Oct 21* organised cultural events alongwith Wushu, Karate display, and the final of ongoing Unity Cup Cricket Tournament at Haphruda* .   The main focus of organizing Unity Cup was to engage and elevate the sportsman spirit and brotherhood amidst the youth and to identify the natural talent. The celebrations were planned over the entire month of Oct 21* wherein it was kickstarted by ‘ Pedal For Peace’ cycling race on 03 Oct 21* .  The event witnessed participation by more than 40 cyclist* . In order to pioneer the noble cause of women empowerment, ‘ Unity Run For Fun’ was organised on 27 Oct 21* in which 142 girls* took active participation. The Unity Cup Cricket tournament commenced wef 16 Oct 2021. A total of 24 local teams* followed the knockout series of matches with Lord Gushi team* emerging as the overall champions. ...

*National Unity Day celeberated at Mawar Valley. Aadil Akbar Handwara Celebrating the National Unity Day at Mawar Valley, Indian Army at Naugam organised a lecture and speech competition for the students of Mawar Valley. The objective was to spread awareness about ‘ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s ‘ contribution to India. His message of Unity and National Integration was spread amongst the students. The topic was well covered by the motivated students who talked positively about the importance of National Integration and Unity amongst its citizens to thwart any threat to the country. “Unity removes fear & gives strength to face problems”

 Army holds  Khairiyat Patrol at Mawar Valley. Aadil Akbar Handwara In continuation with its efforts to stay connected with the locals, a patrol of Indian Army conducted a Khairiyat Patrol to know the well being in the village. In their interaction, the patrol met and interacted with village heads, ESMs, elderly people and children.  The locals conveyed their preparations and even advised the troops how to wither the upcoming harsh winter months in the valley.

 Army conducts Inter Village Games - Kho Kho for Girls & Arm Wrestling for Boys at  Mawar  Valley. Aadil Akbar Handwara In continuation with its efforts to organise and promote Sports culture in Mawar Valley, Naugam Brigade organised village games at Middle School Lawoosa. A girls event - Kho Kho was organised wherein teams from Govt Upper Primary School, Chak & Govt Middle School, Lawoosa participated. In a very close contested thrilling match, team from Govt Middle School Lawoosa was declared winner. A boys event- Arms Wrestling was conducted for boys of the village of age group 18 to 21. In an event on knockout basis, 12 boys participated in the competition. In a closely contested final, ‘Mr Altaf Gani’ won the title defeating his opponent in the finals. A healthy presence of crowd was witnessed who cheered their respective participants.  NAUGAM BRIGADE PAYS   TRIBUTE TO VETERANS OF 1971 WAR  AADIL AKBAR HANDWARA In commemoration of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh, marked as the historic victory over Pakistan during 1971 war, Naugam Brigade celebrated the memorable event on 26th and 27th October with the gallant war veterans of 9 SIKH who fought the battle in Naugam sector with unparalleled valour.  The celebrations commenced with Wreath laying, paying homage to the martyrs and followed up with an event on sharing of war experiences - an account of personal narrations by the veterans and civil porters who made the impossible possible for our Motherland. Recalling the bravery of 9 SIKH in 1971 war, Lt Gen Raj Sujlana (Retd) during the interaction was overwhelmed to be at the place of resounding ‘jaikaras’ where they achieved respect and honours as “War Heroes”.  Army conducts  Talent hunt Show and musical festival at Degiwatcha Watergam.   Aadil Akbar  Watergam     The musical event titled "Dangiwacha Talent Hunt and Music Festival" was organised from 18,19 & 26 October 2021 by Rafiabad Army with finals on 26 Oct 2021.  This Talent Hunt Show and Music Festival provided a platform to all the local youth showcasing immaculate  cultural diaspora which now encourages more youth to come forward and showcase their talent to the entire nation.     Maj Gen SS Slaria, GOC CIF (K) and Mrs Shikha Slaria graced the occasion as Chief Guests.  DRUG FREE KUPWARA  CAMPAIGN ORGANISED BY INDIAN ARMY. KUPWARA In continuity to the never ending efforts to eradicate drug menace from society, Indian Army organised Drug Awareness Programmes* in *all higher secondary schools of Trehgam* .  The programme was aimed at providing insight to the students about the seriousness of drug addiction. Due to lack of education opportunities and employment in the far flung areas the youth of Kupwara become more vulnerable to this menace. The area is very close to border and thats why the availability of drugs become easier and thus the youth gets distracted towards this.  Hence, the locals of Trehgam volunteered to come forward and along with Indian Army organised several lectures for the youth studying in schools.  More than 400 students including girls and boys and 70 teachers in total* attended the events organised at various higher secondary schools of Trehgam.  The lectures aimed at making youth aware of the reason...

 *World Animal Day celeberated at Mawar valley. *“We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment to animals”* Aadil Akbar Handwara  An awareness campaign under the aegis of an Indian Army patrol was conducted at Mawar Valley to celebrate World Animal Day and raise awareness an advocate better treatment for animals.  Invoking the religious perspective on treatment of animals, the campaign drew attention to the challenges faced by the diverse fauna especially in the impending harsh winters and urged all to rise against animal cruelty and take care of these sentient beings.  The participating youth pledged their commitment towards the well being and care of mankind’s oldest friend.

 Hailstorm Hits Villgam Hamlets; Causes Extensive Damage to Orchards, paddy fields . Handwara, October 03:  A hailstorm setting in this evening has wrecked havoc to orchards and standing crops here in multiple hamlets of Taratpora Ramhall area.  Reports reaching Srinagar-based news agency  said that the hailstorm witnessed in Manzgam Taratpora and Kulmoona Taratpora started at around 8:28 PM. Lasting for about 15 minutes, the hailstorm caused an extensive damage to orchards including apple, and paddy fields besides substantially damaging vegetable gardens.  Meanwhile locals from other areas have also urged authorities to compensate for the damage caused.

 Narcotic worth 30 crore seized in Uri Baramulla, Oct 3, : Joint Forces Sunday morning recovered a 30 kgs of contraband substance and busted drug module along Line of Control (LoC) in bordering town of North Kashmir's Uri.  SSP Baramulla said in a presser "Security forces witnessed some Suspesious movement along with LOC and it was found that some contraband substance which are most likely drugs has been dumped and the drug peddlers were observing the movement along the Indian troops and run away from there and dropped their contraband at the spot."
