 55 People fall ill after consuming ‘Wazwan’ in north Kashmir's Kupwara A health official said people who have consumed the Wazwan complained of vomiting, high fever and dysentery soon after they finished the meals. At least 55 persons fell ill due to suspected food poisoning on Saturday after consuming Wazwan at a marriage party in Mirnag Haihama area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district. Locals said that soon after villagers took the feast yesterday at a marriage ceremony, they complained of vomiting, dysentery and fever, prompting some of them to seek treatment at Sub District Hospital Kupwara. They said that today also more than thirty people complained of same problems following which they were admitted at SDH Kupwara.

 *63-yr-old man crushed to death by train in Qazigund*   Qazigund, Jul 30 : A 63-year-old man was crushed to death by a train in Badragund area of Qazigund in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday morning. An official told the news agency— that a retired government employee of Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department namely Ghulam Nabi Chopan, son of Abdul Aziz Chopan of Vessu Qazigund was crushed by a train at around 11:00 am, resulting in his on spot death.  “It was not known whether he has committed suicide,” official said, adding that police has started investigation in this regard.  *235 packets of duplicate Tata Salt recovered in Poonch* Poonch, July 27 :  Police along with experts recovered at least 235 packets of duplicate Tata Salt at Harni Bazar in Poonch on Tuesday. A police officer told that a police team along with experts of the Tata Company, New Delhi, seized the duplicate Tata salt packets from a wholesale shop. SHO Gursai Niaz Ahmed, who was heading the team, confirmed to GNS the recovery of the duplicate salt packets. He said an FIR has been lodged and investigations have been taken up. (GNS)

 *4 IEDs Recovered In Kuwpara* Kupwara, July 25 : Four Improvised Explosive Devices concealed under a big stone were found Nadernagh Avoora in Kupwara district on Sunday, officials said.     A police official told  that the IEDs were recovered during a cordon-and-search-operation by police and army’s 41 RR army. The official said a Bomb Disposal Squad has been summoned for defusing the devices.  In the meantime, he said, the CASO continues in the area. (GNS)

The official sources told  that three soldiers sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight and were removed to the hospital. A senior police official told news agency  that in the wee hours today, a general information was received by Jammu district police that a drone has been spotted near International Border of Kanachak after which a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) deployed in the area as part of Anti Drone strategy was pressed into action. "Drone was spotted and police personnel shot it down," the official said, adding that  adding that the aerial vehicle, generally referred as drone, is tetra-copter having six wings. "On five of its wings, it had five kgs IED attached to it which is a grave security concern,” the official said. “The IED material has been seized and investigation as well as physical and technical examination is going on.” The official...

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, Army's 22RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Warpora. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight. A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.  Kashmir Valley Petroleum Dealers Association (KVPDA) on Thursday said they should not be held responsible for breakdown of vehicles by use of ‘Ethanol-blend petrol’ as people were not aware about the precautions to be taken while using it. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, last month made it mandatory to blend petrol fuel with 10 percent Ethanol for use in vehicles. The association demanded authorities to create awareness at mass-level among the consumers regarding use of Ethanol-blend Petrol and precautions that are needed to be taken as its use is new to consumers here.  “We have written to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar in this regard but we have not received any response to date,” said Bilal Ahmad, spokesperson of the KVPDA. “Here in Kashmir we have a different weather and appropriate precaution needs to be taken to prevent water entering into the fuel tank as it can lead to damage in the vehicle,” Ahmad said.
